HgbA1C testing limitations HgbA1C - as with most consumer purchases, the lab had to make compromises in the capability of the chemistry machine it purchased last year.  Along with the improved speed and reliability came a reduced ability to measure HgbA1c at high levels.  Below the line on the graph the machine can provide useful information, above line the specimen must be sent out.  For providers this is very helpful because on the uncommon occasions when we order this test we can at least know the level is above a certain point, based on the known Hgb level.  You can check with Dr. Makande,  Dr. Bleil or Kim Kibby if you have any other questions.  (4/8/2012)based on the new chemistry machine in lab (graph)

Tetanus   -  Adults are supposed to only get 1 Tdap - afterward they get Td.   We have been giving Tdap to everyone recently, but we should be sure to check MICR or verify with the patient when possible.  The CDC article on the Medication Room door does state this, although it takes a fairly thorough reading to see this.  Tetanus Prophylaxis Schedule       (4/4/12)
If they have never had one, they should get one immediately and another one in 4-8 weeks.
