2011 Influenza update from MMWR

    MDPH Advisory 
        Clinicians and healthcare facilities need to report cases to their local health departments within 24 hours which meet the following criteria:
           
  • Hospitalized patient with confirmed/unconfirmed influenza-like illness (especially those in ICU/PICU
  • Influenza-related deaths of individual of any age 
  • Pregnant women with severe influenza-like illness, especially those in ICU
  • Patients with influenza-like illness of unusual presentation (e.g. encephalopathy, hemorrhagic, or cardiac presentation, sepsis)
  • Outbreaks or clusters of influenza-like illness in congregate settings (e.g. schools, camps, long-term care facilities, daycares, etc.), as requested by local or state public health departments. 
  • Minimum information for reporting - age/DOB, ICU status, influenza-related death, date of death, symptoms of severe illness, and pregnancy status.
